  • Reformer Pilates is Pilates performed on Reformer apparatus. One of the most adaptable and effective pieces of exercise equipment available, the Pilates Reformer allows a greater number of exercises than is possible just using a mat. The Pilates Reformer is essentially a low frame, with a sliding platform (or carriage) on which you lie, sit, kneel or stand to perform different exercises. A series of springs connected to the carriage and the frame can be adjusted to provide more support making the exercise easier, or to increase resistance and/or instability to increase the difficulty and challenge of the routine.

  • Not at all, exercises on the Reformer and Tower are easily adapted to suit your experience.

  • Pilates can be done by anyone, of any age, exercise history or ability.

It’s prehabilitative, so it doesn’t just make you fitter and stronger, it also helps prevent injury.

The instructor will work with you to ensure that exercises are modified to take into consideration any injury, areas of weakness and/or reduced mobility you may experience.

It’s not just for women, it’s a great workout for men, because it’s not only an integrated and full-body programme, but it also improves posture, flexibility and balance – all areas where men are traditionally weak.

  • Pilates will change your body shape and give you the focus you need to help you achieve your goals,  however weight loss won’t be achieved unless you are in a calorie deficit.

My clients find that the changes that they can feel and see really spur them on to make the lifestyle tweaks that they need to achieve their goals.

  • Clothes that you can move freely and exercise comfortably in, however please avoid anything oversized that could risk getting entangled in the Reformer or anything with zips or rivets so as not to damage the carriage please.

Also, please tie long hair back.

  • Pilates/grippy socks are essential for HIP Pilates™ and Jumpboard classes and advisable for all other classes, where barefoot is acceptable. It’s Pilates, no trainers!

  • We would recommend starting with a Contemporary Pilates class. Your instructor will have already spoken to you about your experience and will tailor the class to suit.

  • We have clients who come three times a week, some twice a week, some once a week and those who come once a month depending upon their needs and time available.

Joseph Pilates famously said: “In 10 sessions, you’ll feel better, in 20 sessions you’ll look better, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a completely new body.” It’s entirely up to you how quickly you get there.
